No, it's the $25 that I still have in my pocket.  You know... since we can't all be best friends with the developer and such.

I happily paid up for the hero packs. Ross has clearly put a lot of effort in to this game and as soon as I knew I liked the game and was going to be playing it for a while, I bought the pack because he deserves it for creating a great game and I want him to continue to host it and develop it further.

If you just want a free ride, by all means take it, but don't complain you've only got the basic package.

(Disclaimer - I don't know Ross, have never met him or even played a game of Hero Mages with him, I just like the game)

On the subject of the FM, the unstunnability is a definite plus, and combined with his Def, Flash and Dragon's Fury, it makes him a good choice in 1-on-1 games where it's harder to hide your mage.

Meeting Place / Re: Boast your Gaming Heritage

Hi all, I'm fairly new around here. I originally started in RPGs: mainly Tunnels & Trolls, Runequest and Call of Cthulhu with a little bit of D&D, which I've started playing again a couple of years ago. I played a whole range of RPGs including Paranoia, Traveller, Bushido, Champions and even Bunnies & Burrows (google it ;)). I also used to play Warhammer Fansty Battle and 40k, but all that stopped a few years back when most of my gaming group scattered to different parts of the country.

Since then I've been concentrating on computer games, and thoroughly enjoy Everquest, Travian (\wave Tors), Hearts of Iron, Civilization (all versions except 3) and my all time favourite - Alpha Centauri. I also enjoy the old UFO series of games, particularly UFO Apocalypse.

I'm really enjoying Hero Mages, it's got a good balance of luck and skill is great fun. I think I'll be playing for a while.

Bugs & Support / Re: Unable to connect on Linux

Update: we've managed to run the game on Linux using Firefox 3.5 and Flash 10 running in Wine. It's a workaround, but it would be nice to have it natively in a Linux browser eventually.

Bugs & Support / Unable to connect on Linux
August 24, 2009, 02:47:50 PM MT
Hi, I've been trying to connect to the login screen on my Linux PC, but it always fails.

OS - Kubuntu Linux 9.0.4
Processor - Intel Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz
Memory - 1 Gb
Browser -  tried on Mozilla Firefox 3.0.13, Opera 9.64.2480, Konqeror 4.2.2 (KDE 4.2.2)
Flash Player Version - 10.0.32.18-1

When launching the game from https://www.heromages.com/game/, flash loads and I get to the screen with the connect button. Pressing the button achieves nothing, it just sits there and never changes to the login menu (which I can get to with no problems from my Windows PC).

My friend, who is running Fedora 11, Firefox 3.5, Flash 10.0.32.18 has exactly the same problem.
