TEAMS REGISTERED SO FAR:(TWO PLAYERS NEEDED FOR TOURNAMENT TO LAUNCH!)

1 - Alderon / Vinman

2 - Sinney / amorphis

3 - no0bzilla / space

4 - murmullos / kefkam

5 - Gorstak / SHODAI

6 - Uberdoggie / Tampit

7 - diesbudt / newfish11

8 - DalaiLamer / maltross

9 - Vantrig / Vinlain

10 - Doom 17 / Supernatural

PLAYERS LOOKING FOR A PARTNER:

1 - Dirpius

2 - jaggedson

3 - the stoat

HERO MAGES DOUBLES TOURNAMENT RULESET

1)Each game must take place on maps specifically designed for two versus two games. Maps that are excluded from this include: INFERNUS. Under no circumstances is this map to be played due to unfair balance. Player made maps are allowed so long as it is agreed upon by all players in-game.

2)At the end of each tournament game one player must copy the entire game log for proof of game and winner. This log is to be sent to me at iberiumharvest@gmail.com (https://iberiumharvest@gmail.com), after review the tournament bracket will be updated accordingly. (Be sure to have the 'game' tab highlighted when copying the log, i dont need all the game chat..)

3)In the event of one or more players disconnecting from the game the remaining players must wait out the drop timer plus one minute. If a disconnected player does not return after this time it is up to the remaining players whether or not to drop the disconnected player. IF a player is dropped the game will go on and a winner will still be stated.

4)Remaking a tournament game is allowed as many times as needed as long as all 4 players are in agreement.

5)It is up to each player to organize a time for each tournament game. Since many HM players are from all over the world it would be nearly impossible to set a specific time and day for each match to take place. Therefor after viewing the bracket teams are required to contact one another to figure out a good time for the game to take place! (I will help as much as i can to see matches get played in a timely manner.)

6)The tournament will take place as long as it has to. Ideally most games should take place 5-7 days after being announced, if a game has yet to be played after 8 days the team who has been absent will forfeit the game.

7)This tournament is double elimination granting each losing team a chance at redemption. In the case of two teams meeting again in the losers bracket a simple re-seeding will occur to avoid this.

8)Each game is to be setup with these GAME OPTIONS: Dice and Events: (Optional), Turn Time: 1:30, Teams: 2 Chosen, Ranked: (Optional), Objective: Elimination, Start Zones: Team Distributed, Heroes: Chosen (Secret).

9)Tournament seeding will be completely random i assure you i am drawing the starting team match ups randomly out of a hat.

10)Due to the current inconsistent state of solid players on Hero Mages, IF your partner has seemingly abandoned you and or is absent for many days in a row, a substitute will be allowed. EVERY player is allowed only one substitute throughout the tournament. This player is NOT allowed to be enrolled in the tournament. IF a player is caught on a different login name (name-hiding) this will result in disqualification, a complete deletion from the tournament.

11)THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE OF THEM ALL: Have fun! Be sure to be nice to every player you come up against. Be honest and helpful every game. HAVE FUN!

Space, just a word of advice, when it comes to 'sign-up' tournaments, be prepared for each round to take about a week, as a lot of players can't be on at the same time most of the time.

Also second word of advice, if you don't have many sign ups (8 teams or less)  its best to do a double elimination bracket.

You can quickly determine which players are active using the Member Directory on the Leaderboard tab and sorting by "Last Online".  You can also search by a particular username to determine both when that player last signed on and when they played their last game.

Hope this helps!

Space, 1 confirmation.  In a Double Elim game, the finals (winner bracket team vs loser bracket team),

-If the Team from the winning bracket loses, they have to play 1 more time (as this puts the winning team NOW into the losers bracket, and only team left with "1 life left" is the team that just beat them.

-If the Team from the Loser side loses, tournament ends.

Just making sure if you are making this clear or not.

Hrrrmm, random heroes?  i'm cool with it but i know some people are not gonna be so down with that lol.  Wouldn't part of a team tourney be the team building strategy portion of it?

Hmm with rule 10 I think I can enter too
I will try to give a warning if I'm not able to participate anymore though.
What about if 2 teams have an abandoned player? can't they join those teams?
Title: Re: 2v2 Tournament

-rule random heroes?

then i will participate as kefkam2, since i dont want tu use the new guardians for this tournament.

-rule player replacement only 1 time

hey this is for fun. each time a player cannot play, eachtime other player will take his place.

and one suggestion. 1 battle consinst in only 1 game? or it wins the best of 3 games (the one who wins two times). most games would need only two games, and there is  few battles each week.

1)Each game must take place on maps specifically designed for two versus two games. Maps that are excluded from this include: INFERNUS, PERILOUS WASTES. Under no circumstances are these two maps to be played due to unfair balance.

I can understand not using Infernus as it's designed for random terrain / FFA, but what is wrong with Perilous Wastes?  So long as you employ Team Distributed start zones setting, this is an awesome and very well balanced 2v2 map.

8)Each game is to be setup with these GAME OPTIONS: Dice and Events: (Optional), Turn Time: 1:30, Teams: 2 Chosen, Ranked: (Optional), Objective: Elimination, Start Zones: Team Distributed, Heroes: Random.

I would advise against having Random Heroes for tournaments- specifically because you throw off the potential Hero match-ups for a 2v2 game.  For instance, players with only starting character packs will have greater chance of getting Bard/Paladin/Warriors (support heroes) while others might end up with all specialist heroes.  Also, a major part of the strategy in 2v2 is deciding as a team which heroes to take into battle to compliment each other's strategies.  Players should always be allowed to pick whatever heroes they want unless everyone explicity agrees to a random hero game.  If we need to make "random heroes" an unranked-only option or remove it entirely, I will do this.  Keep in mind players can always personally choose to select random heroes.

Can you please not talk about my teamwork?Cause I always play to win and utilize all players on the board and all cards(including my teammates) and if my teammate has a viable strategy I'll help him as much as I can(but do tell first)
I'll give you the point about me talking to much trash, but thats it

TWO more teams are needed (just 4 players) and we can start the tournament. Thanks to everyone for participating already my expectations have been exceeded.

Also since this is ending up to be a 12 team tourney do you all think it should just be single elimination or keep it double elim? Let me know your thoughts on this , thankyou.
Title: Re: 2v2 Tournament
Post by: kefkam on August 14, 2010, 09:36:34 AM MT
12 teams single eliination would mean 4 games for some teams, and 3 games for other teams. Here are some brackets of 10 teams , 12 teams, single and double elimination.

https://www.printyourbrackets.com/

I dont like that system.

It would be easy if each team has to play other 9 teams, so its not important the order, and more flexible for playing, and if a match take no place its no a big problem (will not delay other match). And we can play all the other teams.
Title: Re: 2v2 Tournament
Post by: Tampit on August 14, 2010, 10:12:14 AM MT
I think a double elimination is great as it will even out the luck aspect of the game
For example if diesbudt loses the round  after having some terrible luck he would still have a great deal of chance to win with his skill
Title: Re: 2v2 Tournament
Post by: diesbudt on August 14, 2010, 11:06:13 AM MT
I just dont think its fair for any team to play more or less games. I don't see how a non  2/4/8/16/32  team tourny can be fair.

Also, if it isnt fair, it should be double elim.

I would like to play. I'll take anyone who needs a partner. The only thing with me is that I have a 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM job and I would have a hard time playing an uninterrupted tournament game those times Monday-Friday or scheduling a fixed time for those days. Those times I sort of play when I think I might have a break. I am good to play on weekends and scheduling a time. So having this in mind if anyone still wants to partner just say so. If not you can just have me as a substitute player to fill in the gaps.

Don't worry about all that man, i am gonna do my best to make sure every game gets played and everyone able to participate. Each game gets up to 8 days to be played which i think is more than enough time. I will keep a lookout for a partner for you and you do the same.

Dalai, dude, that's no way to act. First he never got a full 12 teams, if it wasn't for you complaining about the partner you got and you wanted someone else who didn't sign up yet when space finallly got his 8th team this would have started already.

2nd with an attitude like that Ross won't delete the post, but with language and an attitude like that I would hope he deletes your posts on this post.

3rd, With that can of outlash on the forums, and the fact that half the players who signed off have not been on for a while and may not, not enough people will want to do a 2v2 tournament with you.

All space did for a while as we played or in lobby was look for players, but no one else really wanted to join, and with him getting busy (people get busy in real life so things can be postponed/cancelled, deal with it) of course it wasn't going to start yet.

TL:DR    Chill out, it doesn't matter.

Please refrain from using language like that on our forums.  There are better ways to communicate with other players without being so offensive.  Be respectful of other players and follow the Code of Conduct rules or your account will be subject to termination.
