Been about half a year since I last came back to Heroes Mages. Was just wondering, how is the board game going? Could not find any other news on it.

General,

Ross is pretty the dev, admin and everything behind the game.

A lot of the players have been around for a few years now without much new blood, which can, sadly, kind of kill a community.

Still, you can also play against the AI, although they are knid of stupid and predictable.

I am hardly on these days, especially with my new job last year, in part because of how much more intense the work is, despite having shorter hours (because I finish my work fast and early, and my boss is not particular about office hours).

I have also cases where the players take days to take an action in asynch game, sometimes because they started too many games and lost track.

Kind of babbling here, but hope you get the gist.

Yes, finally! After so long of trying, my luck has finally changed for the better.

Did it with a Fighter Mage, Bard and Warrior.

I just wished that instead of 7 cards, we have 9 nine cards...'cos I have one more spell to use against the enemy Warrior, but even without it, I still managed the 16 damage.

I have another game stucked. This started as a live multiplayer, and another player joined. However, he seems to have a poor connection. As soon as it started, the first AI was taking weird actions not usually predicted with AI (attacking only using the mage; using abilities out of turn, like the mage moving before the bard did both its buff).

I subsequently dropped the guy when he disconnected. During my turn, I did a Blizzard, and the first target, a Psionist, was hit, but not stunned. I created a skelly at the last minute, and managed to move it next to her, but could not attack...not sure if she was supposed to be dead, but the unit was left on the board.

Also, seems like bad connection on any player in a live game can cause an AI to act weirdly, and freeze the game. This was what happened on my previous game, #51681 UR, although it was more due to a flash crashed. Still, when I have bad connections, I do notice unpredictable actions on the part of the AI.

Hi,

I have a game #51681 UR, which started as a live game in version 1.8.5.
However, my flash crashed, and I was forced to log out and in again.

Subsequently, it just froze at Computer's 3 turn, which was actually a few turns before the flash crashed.

Hey Elementa,

Sorry, been busy since the year ended, and just got around to logging on.

The map looks good, but the issue remains with most 3-way maps - two of the players are closer to each other than the third.

The solution would be to do an asymmetrical map, which I have tried previously, but that is incredibly hard to balance as well.

Hey Elementa,

I love 3-way battles, because the politics are simply far more interesting. But I agree with Gorstak that balancing will be a difficult issue. Still, would love to test it.

I noticed that some of my games were stucked, and all I had to do was wait a couple of hours, and they somehow resolved themselves. Not sure if you took any actions on them, though.

I will try to find them and provide you with the number.

Hi Ross,

I have the same issues with the following games:
#39990 UR
#41028 UR
#45305 UR
#46379 UR

They are all just myself against 7 other AIs, and were started as live games.

I still have a few more stucked games, but will need to try and remember if I started them as async or live, and some of them are more than 2 players.

That equates to the Chinese character for 'good' (好).
The left is the character for 'girl' or 'daughter' while the right stands for 'son'.

Well Kevin, perhaps the Healer's powers forces her to heal everything? Maybe she is a gentle and kind soul who hates seeing people hurt, and her powers reflect that? I mean, the lore is more of a tool for us to build upon.

Still, if you do not want to allow her to heal others, then the only other way would be to nerf her offense, severely, and possibly even cause her Guardians to roll one less dice when attacking or something similar just to prevent overpowering. Between the two, I actually prefer healing opponents, which forces a more strategic use of the healer (through LoS, positioning and so on), as opposed to a straight up weakening of offense.

Besides, it would make gameplay far more interesting.
