Battle Blog / 16 Damage in a Single Roll!!!

Yes, finally! After so long of trying, my luck has finally changed for the better.

Did it with a Fighter Mage, Bard and Warrior.

I just wished that instead of 7 cards, we have 9 nine cards...'cos I have one more spell to use against the enemy Warrior, but even without it, I still managed the 16 damage.

I have another game stucked. This started as a live multiplayer, and another player joined. However, he seems to have a poor connection. As soon as it started, the first AI was taking weird actions not usually predicted with AI (attacking only using the mage; using abilities out of turn, like the mage moving before the bard did both its buff).

I subsequently dropped the guy when he disconnected. During my turn, I did a Blizzard, and the first target, a Psionist, was hit, but not stunned. I created a skelly at the last minute, and managed to move it next to her, but could not attack...not sure if she was supposed to be dead, but the unit was left on the board.

Also, seems like bad connection on any player in a live game can cause an AI to act weirdly, and freeze the game. This was what happened on my previous game, #51681 UR, although it was more due to a flash crashed. Still, when I have bad connections, I do notice unpredictable actions on the part of the AI.

Hi,

I have a game #51681 UR, which started as a live game in version 1.8.5.
However, my flash crashed, and I was forced to log out and in again.

Subsequently, it just froze at Computer's 3 turn, which was actually a few turns before the flash crashed.

General Chat / Async Games - People not ending turn

I have previously brought up that there is a bug which does not show the correct person's turn, as well as how the actions are not fully registered.

I have recently had a few async games where the players either forgot to end turn after taking all actions, or perhaps the end turn was not registered in full, resulting in the games being on hold for days, allowing me to drop the opposing players if I choose to.

To all players out there, please always, always, always double-check to make sure that your turn is correctly ended.

For those of you who know that you have an async game against me, please check to make sure that your turn has ended successfully.

Bugs & Support / Fighter Mage Flash bug

I just encountered a bug where, after the Fighter Mage uses Flash, the game freezes.

It seems to be similar to the Paladin's Bless bug.

The game affected was #39990.

Bugs & Support / Asynch Bugs - Undo Turns

Recently, I played a few asynchronous matches where my turns were undone after I ended my them and left the matches. However, when I quit my browser and returned, it was fine. It made me lose a few good turns, though, while having the dubious advantage of undoing any mistakes I made. Some of the stuff that were undone were in the middle of the turns, instead of from the start of my turn as well.

Game IDs:
#38712 R (undid almost a whole mediocre turn and when I redid my actions, the results were better; this reset to the point after my sorcerer's movement and use of lightning bolt valor ability; I did 2 actions beforehand, move and lightning bolt valor ability)

#38622 R (reset to the point after I had moved my newly summoned skeleton and after my first skeleton attacked; I did 3 actions beforehand, skeleton warrior valor ability, move and attack)

#38706 R (this one registered the most turns, only resetting my last barbarian move action)

#38659 R (reset at point after 2 actions where skeleton warrior moved and attacked; I managed a lucky shot that killed the sorceress, but that action got the reset, and I could not kill her a second time around)

#38714 R (surrender did not register fully, and I had to re-enter the game, where the surrender script seemed to have been registered but not executed fully; the game registered my loss as soon as I re-entere; I did 2 actions beforehand, attack and finishing shot)

Bugs & Support / Gamebreaking Bugs - AI Stops

I am not sure if it is simply the platform on which I play my games - Mac, Google Chrome browser - but sometimes, the AI just seem to freeze, while the timer kept moving. This seems to affect be due to the mage, so I was wondering if it might be something similar to the Wizard's bug in previous version. Here are the games that are affected:
#38029 UR
#38334 UR (Killing the affected AI mage seemed to allow the rest of its team to move)

There was also a case where a Paladin froze mid-action, while executing a Bless, and the timer froze since the animation stops the timer. Quitting and coming back did not help, as the Paladin was out of the animation, but the timer became infinite time. The only game affected was #38320 UR.

I have noticed that with the following games, the turns did not pass properly. This seemed to have affected whether players are notified or not, but not the actual games itself, as I could still proceed to play. However, upon ending my turn, it shows that it was still awaiting for my actions.

Games where this occurred:
# 38081 R (I surrendered in this game)
# 38208 R
# 38028 R
# 38086 R
# 38197 R

In the mean time, I hope players will check their games regularly, even if it is showing to be awaiting their opponent.

Spotted a Paladin misbehaving by healing herself.

Edit : After double-checking the log, I mistook a Bless for Combat Heal. The Paladin did not self-heal at all.

Good Day,

Not sure if anyone notices it, but you cannot target yourself when you are Imprisoned. You cannot use Dispel, or Shield on yourself when Imprisoned.

General Chat / Bad Experiences

Today, I joined a game as a spectator, and was immediately told to get out.
I replied that they should put the room as private before leaving. However, the attitude and rudeness was terrible, and I fear that such behaviour is not conducive to the overall Hero Mages community.

I remember the username as 'jedichuck'.

This is not the first bad experience, as I have a previous encounter (with another player whose name I do not remember) where they asked me if I was 'white'. This incident happened a few months ago, but I put it out of my mind as a few familiar faces joined in and we started a game, and therefore, I did not report it.

These two experiences were really unfortunate, but I doubt that this will be the last time it has happened.

Ross, my apology for making this public, as I understand that you have a need to grow the community. Unfortunately, some members are being overall disruptive to the overall enjoyment of the game. I hope my post will not put off future gamers, however, as Hero Mages is a truly brilliant game.

While playing with analbumcover and Archie earlier, we kept encountering the same problem. The game constantly froze up with Archie, and here is one of the CMD source. I hope I attach the correct thing this time.

I was playing using the PC version, when my opponent, sheperd13 cast Imprison on my Mage. I cast the spell Mana Surge by accident (intending to use Dispel), and suddenly, I could not take anymore actions. I got stucked and was forced to log out.

I was playing the game on Google Chrome (latest version number 18.0.1025.168) on my Mac OS X, Version 10.6.8 with a 2.66 GHz Intel Core 15 Processor. It has a memory of 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.

The Google Chrome was running on Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202 Version: 11.2.202.235, although I cannot determine if this is the Google Chrome inbuilt version or a downloaded plugin, as both were active based on my plug-in database.

Suggestions & Comments / Spell Card ideas

Was just thinking about spell cards, that in Augmentation, we actually have 2 spells that does not augment the characters you use.

I was thinking, maybe Sunder Armor and Hex can be split into a new spell school (maybe called Diminishing, since augment and diminish are the opposites of each other in musical notation).

New augmentation spells can include one that raise Valor, and one that increase a summon's strength, armor and life by 1, 1 and 2 each (since summons are so weak). The second can be a bit of a game breaker though, so maybe we can only have 1 in each deck.

For the diminishing side, we can have spells that decrease valor, decrease strength (something we still do not have yet) permanent or temporarily (maybe just make the opposite of Archon's Might and Battle Horn, respectively). Perhaps Unsummon could be moved here and just create a new healing card, and so on. We will need a specialist mage for this school though, and I think my Witch in the new character thread might be up for it.

Just wanted to compliment you on the new version of the game. I logged on today after a couple of weeks of being away and found this!

The new interface is so much smoother, and the games can progress faster. Animations are much faster too! Awesome!

Suggestions & Comments / Enforced Game Exit upon completion

Hi All,

Not sure if anyone has posted on the above topic, but is there a reason we have to exit the game after completing it? Having to return to the same room to set up the match for the same players can get a bit tedious, especially for 'marathon sessions' if you have plans to play for hours with friends. It will be great if we can return to the room that was already set up and just play again from there.

If this is an issue with server space, perhaps the host of the game can use his computer as the temporary server to save the room?
