The minotaur - Bull Charge

Before I go on...I know I am new here and am sorry if this has already been mentioned

When I play as the minotaur, I can sometimes set up a bull charge and get the right sprint distance, and yet it still won't work. This seems to happen to me sometimes if the minotaur and it's target are on opposite corners of a rectangle, such as shown below.

MOOOO
OOOXO
(M = minotaur, X is target)

now the desired move is as followed (x being movement path)

MOOOO
xxxXOO

this movment results in a correct bull charge. However, what I find sometimes happens on attempting this move is

MxxOO
OOxXO

meaning no bull charge, even though you made the move to the space next to the target.

Has anyone else noticed this?
Does anyone else think that the minotaur should be able to use a bull charge in these situations?

No. his charge is fine.

His charge is a free attack on a sprint that could do 9 dice of damage on a good day. So there has to be some drawback, such as you can't control how he sprints.

Now if you were wise, you could use a summon or a unit to stand in the way, and force him to turn early, so he's facing the opponent. Or you can even spend time to find the pattarn how the units move, so you know which way he will be facing at an end of a charge.

cml,

The Minotaur must face the opponent he is going to ram at the end of his charge.   In situations like you described, it's possible the Minotaur will move in a such a way that he's not actually facing the enemy.  The best way to guarantee an impact is to sprint towards an enemy directly in front of you in a straight line- or ensure that there is only one path the Minotaur can charge to make the connection.  The Psionist's Mind Control ability is also useful for positioning an enemy within the Minotaur's path.  Hope this helps!

My guess in this case is that M and X are 2 points creating a straight line and the block that intersects get used, probably the algorithm doesn't work that way but you could visualize it that way
If so
MOOOO
OOOOX
Would probably work

For Clarification the movement system has a pattern. It isn't random, you can tell how your minotaur will move before it actually moves to the spot you want.

Its simple:    Up > Left > ***(Down > Right)

I am unsure of the last 2, as I canno remember at this time, but I think I'm right.

So what that means is, if you move up and left (say  2 up and 3 left),   You will always move up 2 before you move left 3.

You will always move left before moving down.

You will always move up before moving right.

***You will always move down before right.

If you are moving left or right and your unit can choose to go up or down around a wall piece, he will always choose the upper path.

If you are moving up or down and your unit can choose to go left or right around a wall piece, it always chooses the left side.

The only time he priority system changes, is if a unit has to turn early to fit between a gap, It will still follow the system, it will just turn when It has to go a certain way to make a move valid.

Also it will choose the path with less turning if applicable.

That is all.

(There is a reason so few people can sprint a minotaur on me.)

It took me a while to figure this out as well. Almost every time he would charge to the target but face the wrong direction. Even though he had a clear shot to the target. I've learned to stick skeletons or whatever else in the way to make him turn the way I want. Still doesn't help the fact that if he misses his roar he is probably dead in a turn or two anyway.

Psionist works well with a minotaur imo
