I'm having a lot of fun as a Hero Mages newbie tonight, especially as I'd given up on finding anything like it -- I didn't know anyone growing up that would play tabletop RPGs of any form, but spent many many hours dungeoneering in RPGs with turn-based tactical combat like Ultimas III, IV & V. :)
There's just one thing that's a serious game-derailing disappointment, and the graphics at the top of the screen are a good example: the elf-warrior is in full armor, the sorceror in dignified robes, but the woman's in attire that nobody sane ever would into battle. In comparison, check out the submissions at Women Fighters In Reasonable Armor (https://womenfighters.tumblr.com/). They're still attractive (not that it should matter) but look ready to go kick some butt right alongside their male party members, which is much more appealing to imagine myself doing. ;)
