Interesting duel leaderboard, tonight:

1 Q666 with 1463 (still lonely ahead of everybody)
2 Echoron with 1367
3 Archancient with 1363
4 Mowg with 1362
5 Scribe with 1352 (yours truly)    ;-)
6 Dawili33 with 1350

And then it drops to1284

With 5 players within a mere 17 points of each others, the battle for second place could be interesting!
So:

Who will emerge as the hero mage able to challenge Q666?

(OK, I got this sentence somewhere, I know...)

What about a round of organized 1v1 among the contenders (rather than random games), until one stands out?
I'm just trying to make it fun and build interest, guys. I hope you'll join the fun!

Oh, and to make it fair let's avoid the maps that are too biased towards whoever plays first (trinity caverns, tenoctyl, etc.), along with custom maps since they give an edge to the one familiar with it.

Here's an update (although I'm not even sure any of the contenders read this post...).

After a first round of invites, Mowg has clearly taken the lead. Will it last?
1 Q666 with 1463
2 Mowg with 1439 (congrats!)
3 Echoron with 1376 (the only one who declined my invitation)
4 myself with 1340
5 Archancient with 1333
6 Dawilli33 with 1313

So here is the final status: a challenger mage did emerge, and I'm naming MOWG!!!

Congratulations, and good luck against Q666.

Here are the positions as of this morning:
1 Q666 with 1443
2 Mowg with 1441 (awfully close, now)
3 Echoron with 1400
4 Dawilli33 with 1373
5 Ross (who reappeared) with 1362
6 Archancient with 1350
7 myself with 1346 (honestly, why did I ever want this performance to be highlighted? Oh, well...)
8 Yaguarete with 1322, joining the leading group :-)

Q666, beware of the competition!

As an update the duel top 5:

1. q666(me) 1534
2. dawilli 1514
3. Mowg 1457
4. Scribe 1390
5. WorldChamp 1387

congrats to dawilli who has broken the 1500 barrier and with one of my matches looking like a loss he might even make top dog quite soon.

Since I started this thread the span between the top 5 has never been so small: 41 points only!
(to be compared with 111 points at the beginning,  and to more than 150 points between the current #5 and #6).
The battle is fierce, yet the order hasn't changed since the last update:

Q666 1467
Dawilli33 1441
Mowg 1436
Scribe 1428
Worldchamp 1426

Wow! It's a revolution at the top!!! And certainly just as confused and uncertain as one!
After months and months of unquestioned supremacy, Q666 lost the top spot to Dawilli33, who in turn lost it to Worldchamp!
As it comes, we didn't end up with one challenger as my initial post suggested, but two!
This game is full of surprises...   Smiley

Was it just a mere haphazard? Q666 has been back to his former leading rank for several days, now. Just as if nothing ever happened...
Congrats to you, Q666. You wouldn't have given up, right?
And keep it up, you guys. Now you know it's possible!

Well, well... The tale isn't told yet. Especially with Edwardsky coming out of hibernation directly to the #1 spot! (welcome back)

Here's the current leading pack:
Edwardsky 1496
Worldchamp 1470
Mowg 1455
Q666 1424
