I have noticed that with the following games, the turns did not pass properly. This seemed to have affected whether players are notified or not, but not the actual games itself, as I could still proceed to play. However, upon ending my turn, it shows that it was still awaiting for my actions.

Games where this occurred:
# 38081 R (I surrendered in this game)
# 38208 R
# 38028 R
# 38086 R
# 38197 R

In the mean time, I hope players will check their games regularly, even if it is showing to be awaiting their opponent.

Spotted a Paladin misbehaving by healing herself.

Edit : After double-checking the log, I mistook a Bless for Combat Heal. The Paladin did not self-heal at all.

I encountered a second issue, with aynchronous game as well.

Basically, it boils down to showing 'Victory' when I lost (as in the case of 37764) and showing 'Defeat' when I won (as in the case of 37908).

I actually won this game, but it is showing as 'Defeat' instead of 'Victory'.

I came back after a couple of weeks of not playing, and version 1.8.0 is out!

The new interface is great, although a bit laggy for me, but that might be more an issue with my PC. However, it is far more stable.

Asynch is awesome, although I hope more players will try it.

Overall, Ross, great update, save for a bug with lightning bolt already reported!

Edit: Asynch is really great! I have a low end notebook that cost me S$ 400, with a very basic processor, but the games worked on it without lag. Wouldn't ever try live play on it though...

I agree with Ross, that there would be balance issue, especially if one spends all the points on a mage's Def and Life, making the mage nigh invulnerable. However, custom characters can be fun, so perhaps we have to limit the points to have a cap on how much can be spent per stat.

Good Day,

Not sure if anyone notices it, but you cannot target yourself when you are Imprisoned. You cannot use Dispel, or Shield on yourself when Imprisoned.

General Chat / Bad Experiences

Today, I joined a game as a spectator, and was immediately told to get out.
I replied that they should put the room as private before leaving. However, the attitude and rudeness was terrible, and I fear that such behaviour is not conducive to the overall Hero Mages community.

I remember the username as 'jedichuck'.

This is not the first bad experience, as I have a previous encounter (with another player whose name I do not remember) where they asked me if I was 'white'. This incident happened a few months ago, but I put it out of my mind as a few familiar faces joined in and we started a game, and therefore, I did not report it.

These two experiences were really unfortunate, but I doubt that this will be the last time it has happened.

Ross, my apology for making this public, as I understand that you have a need to grow the community. Unfortunately, some members are being overall disruptive to the overall enjoyment of the game. I hope my post will not put off future gamers, however, as Hero Mages is a truly brilliant game.

I do agree that some threads are confusing as they pertain to older versions of the game, so I know where Archie is coming from, especially since I only joined last year when most major gameplay changes had already taken place. However, I believe that Trasd is right in that we should archive it instead of straight out deleting.

This might just be an occupational hazard of mine as I am the paperwork guy at my job, where archiving, recording, auditing, etc, are all important aspect of my work.

Besides, having it as archive instead of straight out deleting will give a good historical reference of Hero Mages, something which I believe will be important, say 10 years down the road, when Hero Mages make it big!

Just an added note, I am using Macintosh and Google Chrome when playing, while Archie and analbum were both using the Android version.

There was some problems with analbum earlier, but logging off and on again solved that. With Archie, somehow, it remains an issue even after logging off and on.

***PS: Archie and analbum played a game amongst the two of them, and I was spectating. There was no problem at all, but they were playing mage duel. I do wonder if this might be
a) bandwidth issue, as all of us were from different countries, and quite literally all over the world
b) browser or OS specific issue that makes Mac or Google Chrome incompatible with the Android version

While playing with analbumcover and Archie earlier, we kept encountering the same problem. The game constantly froze up with Archie, and here is one of the CMD source. I hope I attach the correct thing this time.

I don't think this scenario will ever happen, because summons are unsummoned when the whole team (except the summons) are killed. Of course, this does not account for any Fire Shield effect on the Mage or Guardian themselves, if Ross ever implements a Fire Shield spell card.

Nice idea!
Reminds me of Shining Force and Fire Emblem series.
While the tiles give bonus, maybe they can also reduce movement?
Those old games have tiles that give defense bonus while reducing movement, and with different classes having different bonus/movement penalty.

Thanks for the tip.
I read up a bit, and it seems that Google Chrome generally has problems with flash games due to its own inbuilt flash player plugin, so it is almost certainly a browser issue.
